Associate Client Accountant

Job Summary

As a full-time remote Associate Client Accountant at Charles Ardor & Company, you will play a crucial role in providing real-time accounting services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across various sectors. Working closely with clients and our team of accountants, you will be responsible for executing accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and supporting the overall client accounting process. This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote work environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Operations Support:

    • Assist in day-to-day accounting tasks, such as data entry, bookkeeping, and maintaining financial records.

    • Process financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.

    • Assist in reconciling bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents.

    • Collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:

    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and schedules.

    • Conduct basic financial analysis, including variance analysis and trend identification.

    • Assist in compiling and organizing financial data to support the financial reporting process.

    • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and industry-specific standards.

  • Client Communication and Assistance:

    • Collaborate with clients to collect and review financial data, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

    • Respond to client inquiries and provide support on accounting-related matters.

    • Assist in preparing and delivering financial reports and statements to clients.

    • Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, ensuring excellent customer service and client satisfaction.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Support:

    • Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant accounting principles, standards, regulations, and tax requirements.

    • Stay updated on accounting rules and regulations to ensure accurate financial reporting.

    • Assist in the preparation of necessary documentation for audits, reviews, and tax filings.

  • Process Improvement:

    • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency enhancement within the accounting operations.

    • Collaborate with the team to implement improvements and streamline workflows.

    • Propose ideas to automate manual tasks and leverage accounting software for increased efficiency.

  • Professional Development:

    • Stay informed about industry trends, accounting principles, and best practices through self-study and training opportunities.

    • Actively participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance your accounting knowledge and skills.

    • Seek guidance from senior team members and proactively ask questions to expand your understanding of accounting principles and processes.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

  • Previous experience (min. 2 years post-NYSC) in accounting, finance, or a similar role is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial concepts.

  • Familiarity with accounting software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books Xero, Excel) is advantageous.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel).

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in numerical data.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a remote team.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proactive and eager to learn, with a growth mindset.

  • Must have a working laptop and mobile phone

Proposed Compensation:

  • ₦70,000 per month (net) with Chartered Accountant designation

  •  â‚¦60,000 per month (net) without Chartered Accountant designation

Terms & Conditions:

  • This is a full-time, remote role

  • Full-time employees are subject to a probationary period of up to 6 weeks and contract may be terminated within this time if performance is deemed unsatisfactory.

  • Paid annual leave benefits for full-time employees are no more than:

    • 20 days paid annual leave,

    • 5 days paid sick leave

    • 3 days bereavement leave.

NB. Paid maternity leave will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
