Senior Accountant Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying clients' financial transactions.
Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing a team of Accountants and Junior Accountants.
Senior Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

Review and manage accounts payable and receivable

Review and analyze financial data and create reports on financial status based on the analysis results

Create timely and accurate accounting reports and present them to client's executives and senior management alongside accounting manager

Develop recommendations to optimize clients' accounting systems and procedures and detect inaccuracies

Support and consult company's personnel on accounting control procedures

Supervise accounting associates and bookkeepers, plan their work and assign tasks

Take part in forecasting and financial standards setting processes

Organize financial statements and budget preparation, accurately and timely

Support tax audits (both internal and external) and tax returns

Support business processes and accounting policies and prepare corresponding documentation

Ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP & IFRS requirements

Work together with financial and/or accounting managers to optimize financial operations

Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
Senior Accountant Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required (essential).

3+ years of accounting experience (essential).

ACCA or ACA qualified (advantageous).

Working knowledge of tax laws, GAAP & IFRS
-
Strong financial analysis skills.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong organizational and stress management skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.

Good practical experience with accounting software packages such as QuickBooks, Wave, SAGE, ZohoBooks etc.

Ability to train and manage staff.

Ability to work with little to no supervision and deliver results in stipulated timelines

Must have a working laptop and able to work remotely
Proposed Compensation:
-
₦130,000 per month (net) for a Chartered Accountant with requisite post-qualification experience OR;
-
₦100,000 per month (net) for NOT Chartered Accountant but with requisite experience
Terms & Conditions:

This is a full-time, remote role
-
Full-time employees are subject to a probationary period of up to 6 weeks and contract may be terminated within this time if performance is deemed unsatisfactory.

Paid annual leave benefits for full-time employees are no more than:
-
20 days paid annual leave,
-
5 days paid sick leave
-
3 days bereavement leave.
